Practical support, proportionate cost

Separation Support Without

Solicitor Fees

You can navigate separation properly and reach a fair outcome without paying solicitor rates throughout.

Separation touches every part of life: finances, children, housing, paperwork, communication, and the emotional weight of it all. Having proper support through it should not require paying hundreds of pounds an hour for a solicitor at every step.

The Separation Companion exists precisely for this reason. Practical, experienced, calm support through every stage of separation, at a cost that is proportionate to what you actually need, not what the full legal representation model would charge.

What makes this different from using a solicitor

A solicitor provides legal advice and legal representation. That is valuable at specific points in the process, and I will always encourage you to get targeted legal advice when it is genuinely needed. What a solicitor cannot always provide, at least not cost-effectively, is the day-to-day practical support: helping you organise paperwork, draft a clear email to your ex, prepare for a difficult conversation, understand what Form E is actually asking, or simply talk through what is happening and what to do next.

That practical, organisational, emotional support is what I provide. It fills the gap between doing nothing and paying for full legal representation at every step.

What this covers

  • Separation admin and document organisation
  • Court form guidance and preparation
  • Financial remedy support including Form E
  • Co-parenting arrangements and communication frameworks
  • Correspondence drafting and communication support
  • Court preparation and McKenzie Friend attendance
  • Emotional support and a calm, non-judgemental space to talk

What it costs

Hourly support from £65 per hour. Packages from £325. No minimum commitment, no retainer, no ongoing obligation. You use as much or as little as your situation requires.

The right outcome without the wrong bill

The decisions made during separation have long-term consequences. Getting them right, with proper support, is worth it. What is not worth it is paying for more than you need. That is the balance I help you strike.
